Spring is here, so it’s time for the next release of webmate 2026.2.0.
Highlights:
Welcome to the Appium Inspector in our webmate Workbench: This feature allows users to inspect and interact with mobile app elements directly within the Workbench environment.
Statistics collection for webmate UX research: Usage data is collected only with the user’s approval to help analyze and improve the overall platform experience.
Improved tracking of device rotation status for mobile devices: The system now more accurately detects and responds to changes in device orientation during testing.
Administration:
Bulk user invitations are now supported: Administrators can invite multiple users at once, making onboarding faster and more efficient.
Project admins can now revoke reservations: Admins have greater control by being able to cancel active device reservations when necessary.
UI Changes:
A new shortcut allows users to quickly begin frequently used test configurations.
User experience improvements for various Workbench use cases: Several interface enhancements have been made to streamline workflows and improve usability.
Mobile Devices:
Audio streaming for public devices (bookable for Admins): Users can now stream audio from publicly available devices while they are reserved.
Android secure screen instrumentation for apps: Apps can now bypass the secure screen. Testing tools can now interact with apps that previously blocked screenshots or screen recording via secure screen settings.
Android instrumentation now supports external “network_security” configurations: Custom network security settings can now be applied during app instrumentation for more flexible testing scenarios.
Feedback provided for instrumentation of uploaded apps: Users receive clearer feedback about the success or failure of app instrumentation processes.
Selenium/Appium:
Default Appium version updated to 3.0.2: The platform now uses a newer Appium version, providing improved performance and compatibility.
Extended support for Selenium/Appium capabilities: Additional testing capabilities and configurations are now supported, allowing for more advanced automation scenarios.
