What is Mobile Access?

Mobile access is a VPN that allows you to access your test systems with local mobile devices. The solution is integrated into webmate, which means you can test all systems with your mobile device that you can reach from your webmate test infrastructure.

How to use mobile access

Since using mobile access has security implications, please contact webmate support if you wish to have access to mobile access. Once the setting is enabled for you, the ‘Mobile Access’ view will be available in the profile area.

In this area, you can create and manage Mobile Access Tokens. A Mobile Access Token allows you to access the system with a mobile device. The tokens are automatically deactivated after a duration of 2 weeks but can be reissued at any time for one or more devices.

Before you can use webmate Mobile Access on any of your mobile devices, you must install the app “OpenVPN Connect” from the provider OpenVPN Inc. OpenVPN Connect is available for free download in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

After creating a Mobile Access Token in webmate, the token must be linked to the mobile device. This operation is called “activation” in webmate. By clicking the “Activate” button, a QR code will appear in webmate.

By scanning the QR code with your mobile device, the activation is completed, and the VPN configuration is automatically downloaded and transferred to OpenVPN with a click. After entering the access data, the VPN can be started and you will now have access to your test systems. You can now use your newly added device for manual testing; almost as if it were part of the webmate Mobile Device Cloud.
